On November 3, 2005 the Brevard County School Board held the Area 1 Awards & Recognitions Ceremony at Palm Bay High School, 6:30 p.m. School Crossing Guard, Rita Ydo, was presented with the "Outstanding Community Member" award by Gemini Elementary School Principal Joan Holliday.  Ms. Ydo has been the Crossing Guard at Oak and Orange Streets for 17 years .    She is on the job in rain, sleet, and tropical depressions and can always be counted on to keep our children safe-she truly cares about each and every one of them.
