MELBOURNE BEACH
POLICE DEPARTMENT
Combat Auto Theft (CAT) Program
This is a program to deter auto thefts. It is a volunteer decal program that allows a Melbourne Beach Police Officer to stop a participating vehicle being driven between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. to determine if its use is authorized. Vehicle owners may register for the program by completing a registration form indicating that the vehicle is not operated between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. Once registered, one decal will be affixed to the inside left rear window. The decal contains the serial number which is cross referenced with a log book that is maintained at police headquarters. Registration for the CAT Program is weekdays between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. and on Saturdays by appointment. Please call 723-4343 at the Melbourne Beach Police Department, 507 Ocean Ave. All Melbourne Beach residents are urged to join the CAT Program. The program is currently being offered in numerous municipalities and statewide.
